I have a lot of good in my life right now. I am healthy. I have a great relationship, caring family, challenging career and a wonderful place to live. I’ve worked hard for what I have there is no doubt. But as we all know, some of what we experience is just due to timing, luck and circumstance so that our lot of ‘good’ ebbs and flows through life.
As I experience the good, I am uplifted even more by those who support my happiness.
We all know the saying “misery loves company”, right? Well, a conversation recently had me thinking about just that. My good news and general happiness fell on not only deaf ears, but resentful ones. Life is imperfect and so are we. There are times we may wish to be supportive but may find it more difficult...and often it shows.
Surrounding yourself with those who want your happiness as much as you do is where we all want to be. And relishing in the beauty of being that person who celebrates the happiness of others is the counterpoint to that magic equation. Not only will you feel better about your own life, your loved ones will feel cherished.
Food for thought the next time someone shares their good news…
